How To Take Care of Oily Skin In The Rainy Season?

Do you have oily skin? Here are our top tips to take care of oily skin in the rainy season. The rainy season is upon us! And with it comes a plethora of skin concerns, especially for people with oily skin. The humidity and the heat are a perfect recipe for the overproduction of sebum. As a result, your skin appears greasy, and you experience issues like clogged pores, acne, and uneven skin tone. But you don’t have to suffer in silence anymore. We have some incredible tips up our sleeves to help you manage your oily skin in the rainy season.
  • Cleanse
High humidity frequently causes more sweating and sebum production, which can clog pores and cause breakouts. The hot, humid weather makes skin more prone to bacterial growths and consequent acne outbreaks. Therefore, it is important to keep your skin cool and clean. If you have oily skin, use cold water and facial cleansers containing salicylic acid or resorcinol to wash your face two to three times a day in the rainy season. A double cleanse routine is recommended to brighten your complexion and get rid of the dead skin cells.
  • Opt for a light moisturiser
If you have oily skin, skipping moisturiser in the rainy season might seem tempting. But, you must not make this mistake. Your skin requires a moisturiser even if it is humid outside because the weather can cause your skin to become dehydrated and appear dull. If you are not a fan of the greasy feeling of moisturisers, we recommend choosing light moisturisers that are quickly absorbed into your skin. Choose moisturisers that are gel or fluid-like as they work to control sebum production, and create a barrier between the skin and pollutants.
  • Exfoliate
While your skin is sensitive in the rainy season, you must not skip exfoliating your skin. Since your skin is more prone to acne due to excessive sebum production, it is a good idea to exfoliate your skin regularly. However, don’t overdo it, as it can lead to dry and damaged skin. And while exfoliating your skin, be very gentle.
  • Pick water-based products over oil-based ones
Heavy, oil-based skincare products can clog pores and cause blackheads when applied to oily skin with enlarged pores, especially in the rainy season. Therefore, we recommend lightweight, water-based, non-comedogenic products to prevent clogged pores and a variety of other skin concerns.
  • Don’t ignore sunscreen
It is one of the biggest myths that you don’t need sunscreen in the rainy season. But, in reality, UV rays penetrate on cloudy days too because clouds do not work as a UV rays filter. So it is non-negotiable to use sunscreen every day of the year. The Skin Cancer Foundation claims that clouds only block less than 25% of the UV rays that penetrate your skin and cause skin cancer. But if you have oily skin, some sunscreens can cause breakouts, excess shine, and clog your pores, especially in the rainy season. We recommend going for non-greasy, lightweight formulas. Look for mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide that are free of oils.
  • Try clay masks
Is your skin perpetually oily and sticky in the rainy season? It is crucial to use a skin-clearing face mask that zaps the sebum while keeping it calm and soothed. If you have oily skin, you must invest in a clay mask for the rainy season as it gently cleanses your pores, gets rid of blackheads, prevents clogging of pores, and controls excess sebum production. Due to their ability to absorb extra oil on your face, clay masks are a blessing for people with acne-prone, oily skin. However, use them sparingly, preferably once every two weeks, to avoid drying your skin.
  • Chemical peels
Chemical peels are a brilliant option for those with oily skin as they unclog your large pores and reduce excessive sebum production. If you struggle with open pores, breakouts and excess shine in the rainy season, you must try a chemical peel at ISAAC Luxe.  If you wish to know more about how to take care of oily skin in the rainy season, visit ISAAC Luxe or schedule a consultation with us.
